Libyan telecom company signs contracts.

contract-signing-smallThe Libyan General Posts and Telecommunications Company (GPTC) on Thursday signed four contracts in the field of telecommunications, official sources told PANA in Tripoli.
The agreements were signed in Tripoli in the presence of the GPTC Secretary, Dr Mohamed Mouamamr Kadhafi and the Secretary of the Libyan General People's Committee for education and scientific research, Abdelkebir Fakhri.

Afriqiyah Airways Launched Tripoli-Johannesburg Flights

Afriqiyah AirwaysAfriqiyah Airways launched the Tripoli-Johannesburg route on the 19th of September, 2009, which is for any Libyan Airline for the first time has operated in such the longest cross-continent nonstop flight ever.
The introduction of the Johannesburg direct flight is the continuation of Afriqiyah Airway's efforts and determination to link African States and Africa with the world.

Libyan fund acquiring stake in Austrian brickmakerIENNA -- Wienerberger AG, the world's largest brick manufacturer, said Monday it has signed an agreement with Libya's state investment authority that will let the North African fund acquire up to 10 percent of its shares.
Wienerberger said the move was part of a capital increase aimed at raising at least euro335.8 million ($489.5 million) by issuing nearly 33.6 million new shares.
It said the Libyan Investment Authority has agreed not to acquire more than 15 percent of the Vienna-based company without the consent of Wienerberger's board.

Libya Allocates 9 Billion Dollars to develop Oil Fields

The Libyan News Agency reported that the Libyan Government appropriated 9.9 billion dollars for developing and restoration of 24 oil fields. The decision was taken during discussion of programs of national Oil Corporation concerning exploration, developing of discovered fields, restoration and development of oil and gas production.
The financing will be through lending from domestic banks, provided that the Oil Corp manages all operations through national companies or associated companies with no new companies.
